Permabond POP - Polyolefin Primer 4 oz
Permabond POP Primer is to be used in conjunction with Permabond cyanoacrylate adhesives on especially difficult surfaces like silicone. Silicone is challenging to bond and the only adhesives which adhere well are silicone based adhesives and cyanoacrylate adhesive after the silicone has been primed with Permabond POP.
How to bond silicone?
- Wipe with isopropanol to remove any release agents.
- Apply POP and allow to dry.
- Bond with Permabond cyanoacrylate like Permabond 792.

Is there a time limit for bonding parts treated with POP?
For many substrates, bonding with Permabond® cyanoacrylate adhesive can be performed up to 2 hours
after POP treatment. When bonding PTFE, we recommended bonding the parts immediately after the
POP is applied and has dried. In every case, for best results bond as soon as practical.
What does POP do?
Permabond POP Polyolefin Primer can greatly increase the bond strength of cyanoacrylate bonds on polyolefins (such as polypropylene and polyethylene) and acetal (POM) as well as silicone. It also works
well on fluoropolymers (such as PTFE, FEP, PFA, ETFE). Often, bond strength on grades of PBT, PMP, PPS, polystyrene and polyurethane are improved.
What substrates do not benefit from the use of POP?
•DAP and polyamide : Bond strength decreases with use of POP.
•ABS: POP provides no appreciable increase in bond strength increase.
What is POP? POP is a primer, or adhesion promoter. It is not an accelerator, so it is not for use to increase cure rates or to change the pH of acidic surfaces such as wood.
Will it increase adhesion of epoxy?
POP is only recommended for use with cyanoacrylates. It will not increase bond strength of other types of adhesives such as epoxies, UV adhesives, or acrylic adhesives.
